Vendor Recipes: Fantello’s Filomena Fig Grilled Cheese

Ingredients: 

  • Cultured butter from Fantello Creamery 

  • Fresh bread 

  • Filomena cheese from Fantello Creamery 

  • Fig jam

  1. Slice your bread into medium-sized pieces. Take two pieces that you will use to construct your sandwich. Spread the butter on one side of each slice. Start to heat some additional butter in a medium-sized frying pan, medium heat.  

  2. On the second side of one of your slices, spread a layer of fig jam. On the second side of your other piece of bread, add a little bit more butter, but not as much as you put on the first side.  

  3. Cut your cheese into thin slices. Place the slices of cheese on the more lightly-buttered side of your piece of bread. Then, take the bread with the fig jam and put the two pieces together so that the plain butter sides are facing out and the cheese and jam are touching.  

  4. Place your sandwich in the frying pan and cook on medium heat until the bottom is golden brown (about 5-10 minutes). Flip the sandwich over and continue cooking until both sides are crispy and golden, and the cheese is melted. 

  5. Remove from heat and enjoy!
