Farmers Market Gift Guide 2022
Happy gift-giving season! We’re here to help you out by putting together a gift guide to help you get locally-sourced gifts for everyone on your list. We have recommendations for some great goodies to grab from the markets, and we've thrown in a few other ideas that you can source from some of our favorite local businesses to accompany your farmers market goodies. Happy gifting!
You Are My Jam
A cute and punny gift for a sweetie in your life who loves food, and a good PB&J. Put together a basket filled with market goodies and add a cute little note with a link to a custom Spotify playlist. You can also save this idea for V-day!
Sourdough from one of our bakeries
Butter from Fantello Farmstead Creamery
Link to a custom Spotify playlist titled “you are my jam”
I Yarn for You
For the fiber artists in your life: more yarn is always appreciated! This is the perfect time of year to put together a cozy package and basically gift them a night in with their favorite hobby! You can’t go wrong with that!
Knitting needles or crochet hooks – we recommend Acorn Street Yarn Shop (be sure to get the right size for the yarn you’re gifting)
Tea from Harbor Herbalist
Honey from one of our honey vendors
Hostess with the Mostest
Host gifts get notoriously difficult around this time of year. With Dry January right around the corner, gifting a bottle of wine isn’t always a safe bet. These alternative host gifts are sure to surprise and delight any host, and won’t hurt your chances of getting invited back!
Rocksalmic vinegar from Rockridge Orchards
Beeswax candles from Seola Bee or Seattle Urban Honey
Butter from Fantello Farmstead Creamery
Holiday Wreath from Mariposa Farm
Apple of my Pie
For the pie lovers in your life: keep it sweet and simple. They appreciate classic and useful gifts, so put together a package that they’re sure to appreciate. The Pie Club membership from Pie Bird is a great gift that keeps on giving all year long (bonus points if you gift it to someone you live with so you can take advantage too!)
You’re the GOAT
For someone who needs some inspiration, relaxation, and a reminder that they are the Greatest Of All Time! A cute and punny gift will lift their spirits and give them an excuse to relax a bit. All MVPs need a night off.
Goat milk soap from Left Foot Farm
Foaming milk bath from Left Foot Farm
Link to a custom Spotify playlist to make them feel pumped up
Some Like it Hot
For the hotties in your life who like to keep things spicy, we recommend an upgraded version of their favorite hot sauce, or a colorful collection of assorted sauces to ensure they always have the right sauce for their favorite dishes.
Peri Peri Sauce from Lesedi Farm
Fermented hot banana peppers from Firefly Kitchens
Let’s Wine About It
For the friend in your life who’s been going through it lately: there’s no better gift than a night of relaxation and a chance to vent. By balancing out the sweet and savory treats, you’re sure to give them a gift to raise their spirits (or glass of wine, haha).
Filomena cheese from Fantello Farmstead Creamery
Truffles from Trevani Truffles
Caramels from Jonboy Caramels
Beeswax candles from Seola Bee or Seattle Urban Honey
Bath soak from Left Foot Farm
Lotion bar from Seattle Urban Honey
Feeling Blue
For the punny blueberry lovers in your life, or maybe a bride-to-be? A collection of blueberry-themed gifts is a cute way to gift them something they’ll actually use, while still sticking to a theme and being a bit silly.
Stop and Smell the Roses
For the person in your life who loves florals, or maybe the person who needs to slow down and appreciate the joy in their life. This gift is a sweet reminder of how valuable and beautiful small moments can be. Share a cup of tea and stop to smell the roses.
Rose Hydrosol spray from Harbor Herbalist
Handmade mug from Cotta Ceramics (a market shopper!)
Tinned Fish Date Night in a Box
Is tinned fish the new charcuterie board? We’re not sure, but we do think it makes a cute shelf-stable gift idea! Put together a basket with everything you need for a date night, you just have to pick the time and place!
Smoked salmon from Loki Fish or Native Candy
Beer from Tin Dog Brewing
A dried flower bouquet from Small River Farms
The Butter Board Babe
After writing about charcuterie lovers in our gift guide last year, it only felt natural to include a gift guide item about the charcuterie board’s trending cousin: the butter board. If you don’t know what a butter board is, we will paint you a picture: it is essentially a wooden cutting board smeared with high-quality butter and sprinkled with the toppings of your choice. You accompany it with a fresh loaf of bread for scraping up the butter.
Butter from Fantello Farmstead Creamery
A nice, handmade cutting board
A selection of fresh herbs from the markets
A fresh loaf of bread
The Budding Foodie
For someone who is just starting their culinary journey, we recommend a gift that will empower them to create delicious meals while learning fundamental techniques! The Food Lab by Kenji Lopez-Alt is a great place for someone to start (or continue) learning cooking fundamentals.
Rocksalmic Vinegar from Rockridge Orchards
Foraged & Fermented
If you have someone in your life who decided to try their hand at mushrooming this year and was disappointed to learn that 2022 has been the worst year for mushrooms since the 1970s, ease their sorrows and re-inspire them with a grow-your-own mushroom kit from SnoValley Mushrooms. Throw in some extra foraged and fermented goodies to round out the whole package.
Beet Kvass, or Fermented Mustard from Junebug Ferments
Cranberry Kraut from Firefly Kitchens
The Book Lover
For this gift, you’re going to take the book lover in your life on a little adventure. You’ll be gifting them an outing to the farmers markets + their favorite bookstore, and supplementing the gift with supplies for the ideal night in afterwards.
Tea from Harbor Herbalist
Gift Certificate to a local bookstore (we recommend Third Place Books, Book Larder, Elliott Bay Bookstore, Magnolia Bookstore, Pegasus Books, or other local bookstores in the farmers market neighborhoods)
Farmers market gift certificates so they can pick their own reading snacks
Stocking Stuffers & Honorable Mentions
This list is of all of the gift ideas that didn’t quite fit into one of our categories, but are still worth gifting! Let us know if we missed anything and we’ll add it to this list:
