Tamara Murphy
Chef Tamara Murphy was a champion for our mission at the Neighborhood Farmers Markets. She founded the Good Farmer Fund and is a vital part of our story.
In the early 90’s, Tamara developed groundbreaking relationships with local farmers and producers and put Seattle on the map for Northwest regional cuisine. In 2005, Tamara founded the Good Farmer Fund, which has since helped hundreds of producers recover from emergencies by providing financial relief. Through her menus and work in renowned Seattle restaurants, Tamara set the bar for sourcing high-quality local food from Washington’s farmers and purveyors. Many of the photos below were taken at An Incredible Feast, a fundraiser organized by Tamara and NFM’s founding director Chris Curtis in support of the Good Farmer Fund. Tamara passed away suddenly on August 10, 2024. Read NFM’s original remembrance on our blog.
We will be forever grateful for her relentless commitment to highlighting local producers, her vision, and especially for her friendship.
