How to Pickle Anything

There are many different recipes for pickling but this all-purpose brining method should serve you well if you are a beginner and just want something simple. The recipe was pulled from Joshua Weissman’s website and YouTube Channel.

Ingredients:

Equal parts water and vinegar

11 grams of salt per cup of liquid

vegetable of choosing

optional: herbs and flavorings

Example:

2 cups water

2 cups vinegar

44 grams of salt

melon cucumbers

dill & sage

Equipment:

sauce pan

measuring cup

kitchen scale

jar with lid

Directions:

Pour the water and vinegar and salt into a sauce pan and bring to a boil.

Meanwhile, wash a and dry your jar and vegetables.

Add the vegetables to the jar with the flavorings.

Pour the hot liquid you boiled on top of the vegetables in the jar.

Make sure the contents are fully submerged in the liquid.

Let the mixture sit at room temperature until cool to the touch.

Put the lid on and store in the fridge for up to 6 months.
