Meet Our Farmers: AG Family Farm
If you’ve ever bought delicious cherries or stone fruit from the AG Family Farm stand at the Capitol Hill, Columbia City, Lake City or Magnolia farmers markets, you have definitely met Arturio Guerrero. Warm and friendly, Arturo is in constant motion during the market day, restocking and organizing fruits, helping customers, and gently bossing his son Andy, who helps out during the summer. Arturo has the energy of a man who gets to live his passion every day, and will excitedly update market staff and customers about the latest new variety he’s planted, (much to the chagrin of his wife Anne, who thinks at 100 varieties, Arturo probably doesn’t need to add even more trees to his orchards).
Arturo’s farm is named for the “AG family,” Dad Arturo, Mom Anne, and Sons Andy, Alec, and Adam Guerrero. They grow a variety of certified-organic tree fruits, including peaches, apricots, nectarines, prunes, plums, cherries, pie cherries, and apples. AG Family Farm’s beginning was as family-oriented as its present. In 1998, Arturo and his brother Roberto purchased 75 acres of land in Quincy, WA, farming together for several years under the name ACMA Mission Orchards (named for Roberto's daughters, Adriana Cristina and Melani Andrea). In 2013, the Guerrero brothers sold a 10-acre parcel to their father who also farms organically, and they divided the remaining acreage into two separate parcels, each now farming independently. Arturo is proud to sell organic fruit at the farmers market that he has personally grown and harvested. AG Family Farm’s motto, "From Our Hands to Yours," could not possibly ring more true than when you are handed a bag of delicious, Washington grown fruit from Farmer Arturo.
These days, you can visit Arturo at the Magnolia, Capitol Hill, Columbia City, and Lake City Farmers Markets. You can also order AG Family Farm’s fruit for market pick up from our online farmers markets via WhatsGood!
Another neat thing to note? Arturo is a farmer board member at Neighborhood Farmers Markets! The board is made up of fine folks across many disciplines, plus four vendor-elected farmer board members.
