Make the Most of Modified Markets

We could not be more thrilled to re-reopen the University District Farmers Market this Saturday! The same format and rules apply this week and based on how awesome our shoppers and vendors were during our test run last week, we know the day will go off without a hitch. Read on for more information about how to make the most of your visit to our modified market.
Follow these tips to make the most of your visit to our modified market:

1. Know before you go! Making a shopping list is a great way to keep it moving, and shorten the wait time for fellow shoppers behind you in line. (Stay tuned, we’ll post our most up to date list of vendors and products as soon as they are confirmed).

2. One for all! As much as you can, send one family member per household to shop. This will help minimize crowding in the market, and keep lines short.

3. X marks the spot! Look out for blue tape and pink X’s on the ground indicating where you should stand in line, both outside the market and in front of vendors booths. Our staff will be available to help keep lines orderly and spaced 6’ apart, as well as maintain a clear walkway down the middle of market.

4. Go with the flow! Our modified market flows from North to South. Enter on 52nd Street and exit on 50th Street. This helps us keep an accurate count of everyone in the market and admit one shopper as another exits.

5. Stay in your lane! There will be two lines at the entry point this weekend. One for folks who have pre-ordered with vendors, and one for casual shoppers. To help reduce wait times, join the line that’s right for you!

In general, we were so impressed by the number of shoppers wearing masks, and maintaining 6’ of distance from one another. Remember the same goes for this week - stay home if you're not feeling 100%. Keep it up so that markets can stay open for good!

Pre-Order, Pickup, & Delivery Options

In order to reduce shopper counts and customers' time spent at market, many vendors are offering pre-orders, pick up options, and even delivery. We encourage you to explore your options here
While pre-ordering is not required, it is strongly encouraged! This makes your market trip quicker and reduces contact. Do not wait! Farmers need time to plan and pack orders, so place your requests before their deadlines in order to pick up at market.

Please note: Even if you pre-order, you may have to wait in line to enter the market. This week we will have two lines, one for pre-orders and one for spur of the moment shoppers. We will admit shoppers from both lines into the market as other shoppers exit to ensure proper social distancing.
As you plan your visit, keep in mind: Peak shopping hours are often in the morning when the market first opens, with shorter line times and fewer people later in the day. Thank you for your patience, and for helping us keep the market as safe as possible!
The same shopper rules apply for this week:
- Please be alert! The market has major modifications and there are new signs to help you move through the market.
- Do not touch the products, the vendors will help you.
- Maintain 6 feet of space at all times. This is crucial! Look for physical cues like tape, chalk, and signs all around you as a reminder.
- Shop quickly and efficiently. Though this isn’t the time to chat, big smiles are welcome!
- Wash hands often with soap & water for at least 20 seconds especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, with at least 60% alcohol.
- Wear a face mask, scarf, or buff. Do your part to keep each other safe!
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth, and face in general.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose of it.
