As we celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day, we're noting two organizations doing work to support women in agriculture:

According to the American Farmland Trust, women have entered agriculture in unprecedented numbers over the past few decades. Increasingly, women own farmland, are new farmers, or have become more involved in all aspects of agriculture.  American Farmland Trust’s national Women for the Land initiative addresses the obstacles women landowners face in accessing conservation programs and resources. In part, the initiative hosts “learning circles” that empower women landowners to adopt environmentally sound farming practices, protect farmland, and improve the viability of their farms.

The National Women in Agriculture Association's mission is to save lives and eliminate poverty by increasing the availability of fresh, locally grown foods will expanding economic opportunities for women.
